Curriculum & Promotions

Every program, belt and promotion rule, the way your academy runs them.

Separate belt catalogs, curricula, belt tests and promotion logic for each program, lesson plans and videos your students can see, and a promotion day you can run in one sitting.

    Programs

    One academy, many programs.

Each program has its own belt catalog, curriculum, belt test requirements and promotion logic. Sub-programs, for example Little Warriors or Mini Grapplers inside Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, group classes and students and share the parent program's setup.

    • A student can hold a belt in every program they train
    • Copy a setup from one program to another instead of starting over
    • Programs without belts work too

    Belt catalog

Your belt catalog, in your order.

Set up every belt you award, in the order you award it, separately for adults and kids.

    • Belts and their colors
    • The number and color of stripes per belt
    • Adults and Kids divisions
    • An archive for belts you no longer award

    Curriculum

A curriculum your students can see.

Build the syllabus as sections and positions for each program and division. Add as many sections and positions as your syllabus needs; every program has its own. Coaches mark each position Excelling, Needs Work or Not Assessed and leave notes.

    • Students see their progress in the portal
    • Students add their own notes
    • An email when a coach leaves a note or rating

    Belt tests

    Belt tests you define.

For every belt and division, list the categories and techniques a student must demonstrate. A kids white belt test, for example, might cover Escapes, Takedowns, Guard and Submissions.

    • Categories and techniques for every belt and division
    • Copy tests between programs

    Promotions

Promotion rules that do the counting.

Set the classes and time at rank required for each stripe and belt, choose which class types count, and show students how many classes and how much time remain until their next promotion. Promotion Alerts flag every student who qualifies each night.

    On promotion day

Open the Promotions page under Attendance, select everyone who is ready, and release the promotions now or at a scheduled time such as your belt ceremony, with undo if you need it. Every promotion is recorded in the student's promotion history.

    Lesson plans

    Lesson plans students actually see.

Plan any class date from the class itself: the topic, the curriculum position it covers, and prep notes only coaches see.

    • Students see the plan on their Lesson Plans page
    • It also appears under Today's classes on their portal Overview

    Videos

Instructional videos, gated the way you want.

Upload your own videos and decide who gets them.

    • Your own videos

Upload the instructionals you teach from.

    • By program, belt or plan

Make each video available to the right students.

    • Attached to classes

Put a video next to the class it supports.

    • Free, included or paid

Charge for a video if you choose.

    • Required for promotion

Make a video part of promotion eligibility.

    Only your students can watch.

    Events and schedule

Seminars and ceremonies on the same schedule.

Events get a public registration page, early-bird pricing tiers and automatic member pricing, and can be shown on the class schedule for their dates.

    See Events & Seminars

    The schedule itself is dated

    • Cancel one date of a class
    • Add holiday closures
    • Set a first and last date for a class that only runs part of the year
    • Share a calendar feed that updates on its own

    What students see

    • Curriculum progress with coach notes
    • Belt timeline and promotion history
    • Classes and time until the next stripe or belt
    • Lesson plans, today's classes and videos
